Holy Week

Think about it... One of the most important days in history.  Today, Thursday, some 2000 years ago.

Jesus asks the disciples to prepare the Passover feast in the upper room.  When they gathered, Jesus proceeds to wash their feet.  Question:  What kind of God stoops so low as to wash someone's feet?  He then tells them they ought to wash others' feet.   Do we Christians really live by this example of servitude?

While eating the Last Supper, one of the apostles, Judas sits at the same table with Jesus, while holding a bag of 30 pieces of silver in his pocket.  Jesus tells the disciples that one of them will betray him.  Jesus dips a morsel of bread and gives to Judas and says, "what you are going to do, do quickly."

Jesus gives his new commandment "... you love one another, just as I have loved you..."John 15:12-13.  Think about that love for a minute.  Do we really understand it?  Not only that, Are we in awe of it?  Is it possible we can love everyone the way Jesus did?

Jesus tells Peter that he will deny Him 3 times before the rooster crows.  Jesus then gives them his final lesson.  Telling them the only way to the Father is though Him. He talks of the true vine that bears fruit.  Several times He mentions the helper or counselor (Holy Spirit) that will be coming to help them spread the Truth and give them the exact same powers that He has.  He told them not to be sorry that He will be gone, and that sorrow will turn to joy.  He also warns them of perils they will endure while spreading the gospel.  John 16.  He tells them they will scatter and abandon him.  The apostles look at him with bewilderment not fully understanding what he is saying.  John 14-16.

Jesus then turns to the heavens and prays the most beautiful prayer.  Assuring the Father that he has prepared the apostles for their mission and asking the Father that He be glorified once again back in heaven where Jesus has been since the beginning of time.  John 17.

After this prayer Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane. He’s overcome with stress and anxiety.  He prays for his Father to take this “cup” from him, but only if it’s His will.  The pressure of the moment is so overwhelming his sweat falls to the ground like great drops of blood.  Luke 22:44. Can you believe God experiencing stress and anxiety, just like us?  After he prays, Judas arrives with Jewish troops, and he identified Jesus by kissing him on the cheek and calling him “Rabbi”.

The events of the last hours of Jesus life have now begun......  Please share this story of Jesus with people you love.
